The new EAST hotel is situated on top of the Brickell City Centre in Miami’s downtown financial district.
Designed by award-winning, Miami-based Arquitectonica – together with New York’s Clodagh Designs – EAST has a relaxed yet glamorous vibe, fusing modern Miami minimalism with Asian Feng Shui.
All rooms have spacious outdoor terraces with views of the city and bay. And its 40th-floor rooftop bar, Sugar – designed by Los Angeles-based Studio Collective – is one of the best spots in the city for sunset cocktails and sushi.
Even if you’re not staying here, we highly recommend a trip up there in the futuristic lifts (pictured above), plus a taste of the incredible wood-fired pizza and parrilla at fifth-floor Quinto La Huella – an outpost of Uruguay’s Parador La Huella.
The pool is a fabulous hangout during those hot and steamy Miami days, and you can order drinks and food to be brought out to you while you laze about under the sun.
EAST also has a really nifty lobby coffee shop that doubles as a bar at night, and makes for a great place to meet friends before heading up to Sugar or on to a local club such as Blackbird Ordinary or (my favourite), El Tucan.
