Course: Travel Writing for Beginners
Have you ever dreamed of being a travel writer? Do you have lots of stories to tell about your adventures? Do you love to write? Then this course is for you.
During a series of online video lectures, I will walk you through the basics of how to turn your travels into published articles.
Modern-day travel writing is a tricky beast, with hundreds, if not thousands, of outlets willing to take your stories – but also more writers, bloggers and influencers than ever before, so the competition is fiercer, and the market more saturated. Knowing where to begin, and how to piece it all together, can be daunting. This course will give you an overview of the job at hand.
You will learn:
1. How the industry works.
2. How to come up with good ideas.
3. How to pitch to editors.
4. The scope of outlets to pitch to, and the differences between them.
5. The different genres of travel writing, and which ones to tackle first.
6. About press trips and freebies.
7. About fees and payment.
Who is this course for?
Anyone who can already write, and who wants to publish travel articles online or in print.
